Dave turned professional in 1975 as a member of the Canadian PGA and 20 years later became certified as member of the PGA of America. As the youngest head professional in Canada at the age of 18, the golf industry has led him to positions at private, semi-private and public golf courses across Canada and in the U.S.
His primary focus has been teaching, working with all levels of players from LPGA and Nike tour players, to beginners. Dave’s passion for furthering his own teaching knowledge has led to him working under Hank Haney in conjunction with Dave’s teaching ESPN golf schools in the Pacific Northwest, working under Jimmy Ballard, founder of the Colbert/Ballard Golf Schools and studying with Fred Shoemaker, author of Extraordinary Golf.
As a certified member of the PGA and prior member of the Canadian PGA, Dave brings 25+ years of diversified golf industry experience from his work at private clubs, semi-private and public golf courses. Dave's passion for coaching has led him to develop a wide range of programs including corporate golf schools, junior golf camps, women's clinics, coaching for couples, business convention instruction, teaching the blind and physically challenged.
Dave's coaching and team-building sessions for corporate clientele has been featured in the Puget Sound Business Journal, Business Golf Has Little To Do With Putting (2005), working with regional clientele such as Aegis Living, the Columbia Tower Club, Expedia, Land America, the Oregon Dental Association, the WA State Dental Association and more.
Dave's philosophy is "Only when I know what I am doing, can I do something different." Therefore coaching through awareness and the understanding of what we are already doing throughout the swing is key to making changes. Better skills are developed through increased physical and mental awareness, and practice.
