    Gary Lee

    Strings Instructor
    Gary Lee is an extremely talented and accomplished musician that Lessons Unlimited is privileged to call their own.  He holds a Masters of Music in Cello Performance from the St. Louis Conservatory of Music and a Bachelors of Music in Cello Performance (cum laude) from Illinois Wesleyan University. Mr. Lee studied under Robert Luke, Yuan Tung, and Gordon Robson. His education background includes training in orchestral repertoire, chamber rusic, and early music ensemble. He has also studied piano and bass viola da gamba.  Mr. Lee brings a wealth of teaching experience as cello instructor at his own private studio, as well as several other St. Louis community music programs as well. Gary Lee is the librarian and principal cellist of the Alton Symphony Orchestra. He also performs as a cellist with the Landolfi String Quartet, the Richard Wappel Trio, and the Gateway Festival Orchestra. Lee has also played as the extra cellist for Illinois Symphony Orchestra, Masterworks Chorale, Town & Country Symphony, Florissant Valley Symphony, and several other area ensembles. He is a former associate principal cellist of University City Symphony, former principal cellist of Town & Country Symphony, and former member of Webster Symphony, St. Louis Philharmonic, and Bloomington-Normal (IL) Symphony. For over two decades Gary he has worked with music publishers, including one formerly focused on music therapy and problems of performing musicians. He also holds membership with the Suzuki Association of the Americas, the Musicians’ Association of St. Louis (AFM Local 2-197), American Strings Teachers Association, and Viola da Gamba Society of America.
