Lessons Unlimited offers private acoustic guitar lessons at each of our St. Louis music school locations. We do not prescribe a “one size fits all” approach to learning the guitar. Our instructors teach acoustic guitar concepts and exercises from several different methodologies including Alfred, Halbig, and Mel Bay. Your instructor will vary and tailor the the learning techniques for each student depending on which methods they identify are the most effective for each student based on what the student exhibits to be their most effective learning styles.
For beginners, music lessons will teach instrument use, hand techniques and proper posture. Students will learn basic chords and how they are used in familiar songs. As skills and confidence emerge from the basics, we will continue on to develop music-reading skills ultimately progressing on to playing classical, and rhythm and blues style pieces.
Our more advanced students will use the foundations they have built in the classical and rhythm and blues styling as a springboard into many of the other derivative genres, exploring styles like rock, pop and country. They can work with their instructor to focus on developing their comprehension of more advanced music theory, and on mastering additional musical styles and the advanced techniques specific to each style.
